As the midterm elections approach, Republican Matt Mowers, a former senior White House advisor, has announced that he will be running in New Hampshire for a U.S. congressional seat.
Mowers is running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives against Rep. Christopher Pappas (D-Manchester), according to the New Jersey Globe. Mowers is originally from New Jersey and attended Rutgers University.
Mowers formerly served in President Trump’s administration, as well as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's. He has also worked as a senior White House advisor in the U.S. Department of State and as chief policy officer in the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator, as well as special representative for Global Health Diplomacy. Mowers is preparing for his second run for Congress in New Hampshire.

"Jersey boy done good. Thinking 2022 might be Matt's year," Matt Rooney, New Jersey attorney and radio host, said in an Aug. 30 Tweet.
Mowers also ran for the seat in 2020, but Pappas defeated him by five points in New Hampshire's first congressional district, according to The Hill.
Although he lost the 2020 election, Mowers has remained active in New Hampshire politics, including the planning of a speaking engagement by former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who could potentially be running for president in 2024.
