Concord’s fall leaf collection is underway, with bulk leaf collection that began on Nov. 1 and continues through Friday, Dec. 10.
The City of Concord tweeted, "Bulk leaf collection starts today! Visit http://concordnh.gov/leafcollection for more information!" on Oct. 28.
The fall leaf collection is conducted in two phases: the bulk leaf collection, which has already started, and the bagged leaf collection, which will begin on Monday, Nov. 22, and continue through Friday, Dec. 10.
Fall leaf collection information, including maps, is available at the Concord General Services website. During the bulk leaf collection, residents are directed to “rake leaves loosely to the curb for a one-time collection.”
“Crews will start collection in different areas of the city… and work their way to areas as weather permits,” the website said. “Snow may suspend bulk collection. Residents that elect to participate in bulk leaf collection are advised to have leaves ready at the curb by the start of the program to not miss collection. There is no set timeline for when crews will reach certain areas.”
Residents can receive guaranteed leaf collection by participating in the bagged collection program, which begins on Monday, Nov. 22.
“Unlike bulk collection (which is weather-dependent), snow will not suspend bagged leaf collection,” the website said. “However, to avoid leaves getting covered in snow, it is important to still be prepared for weather and bag leaves early if necessary.”
Concord’s trash and recycling vendor, Casella, collects the bagged leaves. Rigid containers labeled “leaves” or biodegradable yard waste bags (or both) can hold the leaves.
“Leaves must be placed at the curb at the beginning of the week, regardless of your trash collection day,” the website said. “Leaves must be placed curbside by 7 a.m. each Monday during the three weeks of bagged collection (Nov. 22, Nov. 29, & Dec. 6). Leaf collection may occur ahead or behind your trash collection, depending on the amount of leaves at the curb.”
