Shaheen speaks to stakeholders about ongoing supply chain disruptions impacting New Hampshire during her visit to Manchester's UPS Customer Center this morning

Dear Friend,

The U.S. supply chain is the backbone of our communities and businesses. From the food we put on our tables to consumer electronics like cell phones and computers, Granite Staters rely on a stable supply chain to purchase essential and everyday items. Unfortunately, ongoing difficulties like workforce issues and surging transportation costs stemming from the pandemic have seriously strained the supply chain, causing shortages and higher prices.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, I’ve worked to shore up our domestic supply chain and increase its resilience so that when emergency strikes, we’re prepared. For example, I introduced bipartisan legislation to require the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to bolster the domestic supply chain for critical items like personal protective equipment, particularly during a national emergency. I’ve also called for action to safeguard our nation’s food supply and protect essential workers in the industry. Just this morning, I met with UPS officials, labor union representatives and the heads of the New Hampshire Retail and Grocers Associations to discuss how we can alleviate these supply chain bottlenecks hurting New Hampshire’s families. I’ll continue taking input like what I heard today back to the Senate so we can build a supply chain that is more dynamic and resilient in the future.

Sincerely,

P.S. As a reminder: Need Help? Contact My Office

One of my most important responsibilities as a U.S. Senator is assisting New Hampshire residents who need help navigating federal agencies. I’ve worked with my staff to help Granite Staters avoid foreclosure, secure military commendations, deliver delayed Social Security and Medicare assistance and access VA benefits, among other services. If you have an issue with a federal agency, you can open a case here. If it is time-sensitive, you can call my Manchester office at (603) 647-7500.
