Ten former employees at New Hampshire's state-run juvenile detention center have been indicted, some accused of sexually assaulting teenagers at the facility, while others were charged with acting as accomplices.
Gov. Chris Sununu (R) vowed justice would prevail, and the investigation would ensure that all those responsible are held accountable for their actions.
"We will not stop until everyone involved with these heinous crimes is brought to justice," Sununu wrote in a July 28 Tweet. "Investigators are working around the clock to ensure every last person is held accountable."
The alleged abuse is said to have taken place at the Youth Development Center, now called the Sununu Youth Services Center, in Manchester over a period of 13 years beginning in 1994, according to the Associated Press. The facility became the center of a criminal investigation two years ago.
In addition to the 10 men indicted this week, there is an 11th person whose indictments have not yet been handed down but was arrested with the others back in April, according to the Associated Press.
So far, more than 300 men and women have bought allegations against 150 people who worked at the facility for their behavior over a 58-year period beginning in 1960.
