RYE—The Seacoast Science Center’s Atlantic Grill Music by the Sea concert series is heralded as a family-favorite summer event. The unparalleled seaside setting of Odiorne Point State Park, great music, giant dance floor, and delicious picnic-style dining cannot be beat—and it’s all for a great cause. All proceeds from the event support the non-profit’s mission to inspire conservation of our Blue Planet.
The season kicks off with Rhythm Method on July 7. This popular local band serves up only the funkiest of tunes. Their commitment to the music shines in their top-notch performance that will transport you to a fun-lovin’, groovy era gone by.
July 14 brings the premier U2 tribute band, Joshua Tree, back to the stage. Joshua Tree awes the crowd with their remarkable reproduction of the world’s most popular rock band.
One of the most fun-loving, local party bands is back on July 21: Jumbo Circus Peanuts. The big bands’ swinging-pop-jazz, crazy costumes, and tossed-into-the-crowd beaded necklaces make for a fantastic evening of family fun.
The TonyMack Band is set to perform on July 28. If you’re a TonyMack fan, you know how this classic rock and R&B band always delivers a great time, making you feel part of the party as you sing and dance along.
Atlantic Grill owners and Rye residents, Michael and Peter Labrie, who also own the popular Portsmouth waterfront restaurants, River House and Rio Tequila Cantina, and Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club, have underwritten the series for a ninth consecutive year. “We are honored to support Seacoast Science Center and their work to teach about our coastal environment and the importance of conservation. Ocean health and sustainability are issues close to our heart, and are essential for quality of life for future generations,” said Peter Labrie.
Concerts are held under a festive tent on the lawn of the Center, rain or shine. Bring a beach blanket or chair, pack a picnic, or purchase freshly cooked dinner and beverages on site.
Concert-goers can also enjoy the Center and its exhibits, free with concert admission. Alcohol may not be brought into the park (adult beverages available for purchase) and dogs are not allowed.
SSC asks that you help make this a Zero Waste event and pack your picnic in reusable or compostable containers and use refillable water bottles. Compostable items will be collected for high-heat composting.
The music begins at 6 p.m.; gates open at 5 p.m. for dining. Tickets are required and are $20 for non-members and $15 for members; under 3 is free. Tickets are available at www.seacoastsciencecenter.org. Tickets are limited and walk-ins are subject to availability.
