PORTSMOUTH—Prescott Park Arts Festival, a non-profit arts organization located along the banks of the picturesque Piscataqua River, announces the *sixth and final wave* of concerts in the River House Restaurant Concert Series. The beloved series features nationally touring acts, as well as regional and local favorites, that will play the Wilcox Main Stage downtown in Prescott Park this summer. Accessibility is at the heart of the Arts Festival’s mission, so all events offered are done so for an optional suggested donation.
The River House Restaurant Concert Series has been announced in weekly waves this year. This is the final wave of concerts being revealed with the possibility of a few additional acts that will be made public as they are confirmed throughout the summer.
“We are really excited about this year’s line-up for the River House Restaurant Concert Series” said Executive Director, Courtney Perkins. “We were intentional in putting together a mix of shows for the community of familiar faces, along with some acts that are likely to become new favorites. We wanted to sprinkle-in some Arts Festival alumni, while bringing some of the best up-and-comers in the music industry right now. The result will be a fun-filled summer where people know they are about to make some great memories as soon as they walk through the gates.”
The first concert revealed in the final wave of announcements is one of the most successful folk duos in history, Indigo Girls. Over a thirty-five-year career that began in clubs around their native Atlanta, Georgia, the Grammy-winning duo has recorded sixteen studio albums (seven gold, four platinum, one double platinum), sold over 15 million records, and built a dedicated, enduring following. Crowd singalongs that often overpower the band itself are a trademark of Indigo Girls concerts. The duo has returned to the road and amphitheaters across the country are once again filling with the sound of those collective voices raised in song. The phenomenon epitomizes the sense of community and celebration that defines Indigo Girls’ music. Next in the line-up is Canadian band, Wild Rivers, who transpose personal experiences into relatable anthems woven from strands of folk, indie, rock, pop, country, and beyond. As of 2019, their total streams surpassed 100 million and they have garnered acclaim courtesy of Rolling Stone Country, PopMatters, Earmilk, No Depression, and more. Wild Rivers has packed shows across North America and will take the Wilcox Main Stage on Sunday, September 4th. This concert is made possible by Evening Sponsor, The International Association of Privacy Professionals, whose Global Headquarters are located in Portsmouth.
Lastly is soul and R&B artist, Allen Stone. A Washington native with a voice that's reminiscent of the likes of Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, Stone proves himself deeply devoted to making uncompromisingly soulful music that transcends all pop convention. Stone will represent Washington state in the upcoming NBC musical competition show, American Song Contest. An Americanized version of the famed Eurovision song contest, hosted by Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson, the show gathers performers from each of the 50 states to try and determine what geographic boundary, most represented by famous and established artists, can produce the Best Original Song as voted on by the people. Allen Stone will close out the River House Restaurant Concert Series on Labor Day, Monday, September 5th.
So far the Festival has revealed Josh Ritter (6/16), The Dip with Lady Wray (6/22), Katie Pruitt (6/29), The Brothers Comatose (7/6), Fruition (7/8), Watchhouse (7/13), Dustbowl Revival (7/17), John Moreland with The Dead Tongues (7/20), Deer Tick (7/21), Sierra Hull and Kitchen Dwellers (7/27), Spencer and the Walrus (7/31), Miko Marks with Dwayne Haggins (8/10), Shovels & Rope (8/15), Americana Fest with Alejandro Escovedo and Pokey LaFarge (8/21), and The War & Treaty (8/25).
In addition to the River House Restaurant Concert Series, Prescott Park Arts Festival offers the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Monday Night Movie Series along with their signature musical theater production, Footloose, presented by Service Credit Union. Tables in the B2W Software VIP Seating Area can be reserved for all of the Festival’s series, in addition to limited blanket reservations, in front of the Wilcox Main Stage. The Best Seat in the House, sponsored by Key Auto Group, is a special seating area at the front of the VIP section that is available for reservation as well.
