City of Portsmouth issued the following announcement on March 23.
As required by State law, all dogs residing in the City of Portsmouth must be licensed. Dog licenses extend from April to April. The deadline is April 30, 2022.
The fees for new or annual renewals are:
- $10 per male or female dog
- $7.50 per neutered or spayed dog
- $3 per dog owned by a Senior Citizen (age 65 or older; first dog only).
- $7.50 per each puppy aged 3 to 7 months for first-time licensing. Proof of spay/neuter will be required for the next April 1st licensing.
Those who need to apply for a dog license for the first time will find more information and the application here.
The City Clerk is also taking the opportunity of dog license renewals to remind dog owners that dog waste must be disposed of properly. The purpose of picking up and disposing dog waste is to keep it from polluting stormwater with excess nitrogen. Take it home and throw the bag in the trash.
