Chocolate Themed Murder Mystery Fundraiser Kicks off Exeter LitFest Weekend
EXETER__Death by Chocolate, an interactive murder mystery event and chocolate crawl, will kick off this year’s Exeter LitFest in a special Friday night event.
Local literary characters and authors have put their pens together to bring attendees a night to remember. But it seems one of them has done-in the local bookstore owner with poisoned chocolate. Is it his flamboyant business partner at the bookstore? Or perhaps a local author and true-crime podcaster? Or even his perhaps too clever wife? This night is narrated by Ebenezer, a ghost from the past, who has been haunting this very spot since he perished in Exeter’s Great Fire of 1873. That very real fire in Exeter’s history burned the spot where the bookstore now sits and eight other shops.
Participants in the roving murder mystery will visit Enna Chocolate, La Cascade du Chocolate and the Chocolatier, where they will find clues and chocolate samples, before ending up at the Exeter Inn for chocolate and wine pairings and the unmasking of the killer.
Space is limited and it strongly suggested that people reserve their tickets ahead of time on the Exeter LitFest website at www.exeterlitfest.com. Tickets are $25/pp and proceeds benefit the non-profit Exeter LitFest. The event is being generously sponsored by Haycreek Hospitality and Epoch Restaurant.
The Exeter LitFest, which celebrates the literary community in and around Exeter, was held for the first time in 2019. After two years of pandemic era programming, the 4th annual Exeter LitFest will take place in person on Saturday, April 2 at the Exeter Town Hall. It will also include the option for people to take part virtually.
