Patrick Chung, a retired New England Patriots safety, has recently been charged with assault and battery of a family member, as well as vandalism, according to an ESPN report.
Chung appeared in court on Oct. 26 in Quincy, Massachusetts, and pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against him by the mother of one of his children. She obtained a restraining order against him at the hearing.
"Patrick Chung was caught selling cocaine and now he (is) abusing family members?" Derek Giles inquired on Twitter Oct. 26.
He has been released on a $10,000 personal surety bond, and his next court appearance is set for Friday, Jan. 7.
"Mr. Chung is an upstanding member of the community, wonderful father, and he looks forward to be able to set this straight in respect to what actually occurred. He is the victim in this matter," Sandy Pesiridis, Chung's attorney, said, according to The Boston Globe.
Chung, 34, was previously arrested and charged for cocaine possession in New Hampshire in August 2019. However, those charges were dropped in January 2020 after his attorneys demonstrated that the narcotics belonged to someone else, according to Sports Illustrated.
Chung played for the Patriots from 2009 to 2012 and from 2014 to 2019. He was a member of three Super Bowl championship teams.
