The University of New Hampshire Wildcats recently got shut out by the University of Iowa Hawkeyes, with a 3-0 loss in field hockey.

The Wildcats' goalkeeper, Jemma Woods, made 11 saves, matching her personal best, stopping five shots in the third quarter.

"Similar to the Louisville game last week, our goal was to step up to the challenge of their depth and ability, and I thought we did a good job," UNH head coach Robin Balducci said, according to the Wildcats' website. "We held them for a bit after they scored an early goal. We tightened things up. Our goal these two weekends was to challenge ourselves at a high level for the return down the road and prepare us as we get ready for conference play."

UNH now stands at 1-3, while Iowa remains undefeated at 3-0, according to UNH Athletics.

The Hawkeyes are the third-ranked team in field hockey, and the win against New Hampshire is the team’s third straight victory to open the 2021 season, according to Hawkeye Sports.

The Wildcats will play their home opener on Sunday, Sept. 19, at 12 p.m. against No. 7 Boston College.
