Multiple breweries around New England are honoring the soldiers recently killed in Afghanistan.
"Today we have 13 beers reserved for those who did not make it home," Smuttynose Brewing Company said in an Aug. 29 Facebook post. "These beers are for you, as a small token of our appreciation for your sacrifice. A portion of all profits from this weekend will be donated directly to the families of the 13 service members lost."
During the weekend of Aug. 28 and 29, beers were reserved in honor of the 13 soldiers’ sacrifice and service at numerous breweries and restaurants across New England, according to NBC Boston.
Some establishments opted to leave the display for a few more days to pay their respects, while others have vowed to donate a portion of the profits from the weekend to the families of the service members.
The solidiers died on Aug. 26 in a bombing attack in Kabul. One of them, 25-year-old Sgt. Johanny Rosario, was a New Englander from Lawrence, Massachusetts, according to WOKQ News.
Many establishments set aside a table in the soldiers' place, labeling it "reserved," and some chose to pour 13 draught beers while, others opened 13 beers and left them on the table in honor of the deceased service members.
The full list of the deceased is as follows: Ryan Knauss, Rylee McCollum, Daegan Page, Maxton Soviak, Hunter Lopez, Jared M. Schmitz, Nicole L. Gee, Darin T. Hoover, Kareem M. Nikoui, Johanny Rosario Pichardo, Humberto A. Sanchez, David L. Espinoza and Dylan R. Merola, according to CNN.
