NHDES and NHDHHS to Hold Workshop on Private Well Testing in Auburn
Virtual Meeting to be Held Monday, August 9th at 7:00 PM
The NH Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) and the NH Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health Services (DPHS), will hold a virtual workshop on August 9, 2021 at 7:00 PM to address the need for private well users to test their water regularly, to present NHDES’ recommendations regarding testing, and to present the results of recent testing of 80 wells in a part of Auburn where naturally occurring uranium is often at unhealthy levels.
The workshop, which will be held online and is open to residents of Auburn and neighboring towns, will cover why well users should get their water tested, the most commonly occurring contaminants in well water and the associated health risks, the results of the recent testing conducted in Auburn, how to get your water tested, how to understand what your test results mean, and water treatment options. All private well users are welcome to participate.
