PORTSMOUTH—Portsmouth based Step Up Parents proudly announced receiving the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund of the NH Charitable Fund.  The $10,00 grant will allow the expansion and continued programming to offer financial assistance to kinship families due to a loved one’s substance misuse in the North Country of New Hampshire.

In addition to taking on parenting again later in life, these relative caregivers have suffered the devastating effects of addiction with their own child or relative. This grant comes at a critical time, as so many of these selfless caregivers and their families are struggling to make ends meet with the soaring costs of everyday goods and services.

The Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund of the NH Charitable Foundation was established in 2006 with a bold vision: “To serve as a catalyst for the region to move toward sustainable community and economic development in Coos County and surrounding communities.”

“Last year, we helped more families in Coos County than any other county in New Hampshire, and the need continues to grow,” said Denyse Richter, Executive Director and Founder of Step Up Parents. “We are truly grateful for receive this important grant which will allow us to better serve our constituents in and around Coos County.”
