Pro Portsmouth kicks off Summer in the Street program!

PORTSMOUTH—Summer in the Street, the music series that began as a pilot program to identify pedestrian-friendly street closures back in 2003, invites all to a return to music on Pleasant Street this weekend.

The program, produced by Pro Portsmouth, is supported this year by the 2021 Presenting Program Sponsor, Mass General Brigham Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, and Primmer, Piper, Eggleston & Cramer.

The series kicks off with The Seacoast Wind Ensemble on July 2, followed by Jeff Warner (7/9), Vital Tones (7/16), TJ Wheeler & Friends (7/23), and an encore performance with The Seacoast Wind Ensemble (7/30).

Pleasant Street from Porter Street to Market Square will be closed on each event evening from 4 p.m. through 9:30 p.m. Vehicular traffic and parking on that section of Pleasant Street will be prohibited.

Important fun facts about Summer in the Street: All performances take place on an extremely pedestrian-friendly Pleasant street, so BYOC (bring your own chair) and enjoy the music, bring a nosh and a beverage (no alcohol, please) and note, all performances take place – weather permitting – from 5:30 to 9 p.m.

Support is still being sought for the music series, and donations may be made here: https://proportsmouth-bloom.kindful.com/
