PORTSMOUTH—The Foundation for Seacoast Health recently announced a new grant, the Terry Morton Award for At-Risk Youth.
As a founder of the Foundation for Seacoast Health, Terry Morton was passionate about serving the needs and wellbeing of seacoast area youth. He understood the value of building resiliency in teens and the importance of supportive adults and mentors in their
lives. Terry was dedicated to providing all young people with opportunities to reach their full potential and to enter early adulthood with the skills, self-esteem, and confidence they need to make sound decisions and healthy life choices.
The Foundation is seeking proposals for projects or programs that specifically address the unmet mental health needs of Seacoast youth, particularly those facing barriers to access such as inequities related to socio-economic level, race, ethnicity, gender identification, sexual orientation or ability. The maximum grant request is $25,000 and youth are defined as age 12-19 years.

The Foundation for Seacoast Health is a nonprofit, private foundation funded through a combination of contributions from individuals and the proceeds of the 1983 sale of Portsmouth Hospital to Hospital Corporation of America. Established in 1984, the Foundation has been a catalyst for positive change, promoting a wide range of creative initiatives to improve the health of the community and the well-being of Seacoast residents. The total investment in our community to date exceeds $75 million dollars in grants, scholarships, and expenses for the creation, maintenance, and management of the Community Campus.
