Citywide Neighborhood Committee Hosts National Night Out Aug 2

Portsmouth joins more than 16,000 communities nationwide to celebrate the 39th Annual National Night Out (NNO) on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 (rain date Tuesday, August 9), 4:30 to 8 pm.

Sponsored by the Citywide Neighborhood Committee and the Portsmouth Police Department, NNO is an evening filled with outdoor social activities and block parties. This family-friendly event also includes neighborhood visits by fire trucks, police cars, SWAT vans, front-end loaders and other heavy equipment along with the City staff who operate them. Children also have an opportunity to meet McGruff, The Crime Dog, a costumed mascot and enjoy his special demonstration.

National Night Out is an annual community-building event that promotes neighborhood partnerships with the City Police, Fire and Public Works Departments and neighborhood camaraderie.

The following fifteen Portsmouth Neighborhoods are participating in this year’s event:

Spinnaker Point Condominiums (70 Spinnaker Way), South End (Four Tree Island), White Cedar Boulevard (behind Clubhouse), Lafayette Road/West End (Sewall Road Circle), Atlantic Heights (Big Rock Park), Ocean Road area neighborhoods (Fire Station 2), Woodlawn Circle (100 Woodlawn Circle), Islington Creek (Rock Street Park), Wamesit Place (195 Greenleaf Avenue) , Creek Neighborhood (Pine Street Park), Cliff/Walker Bungalow (Cliff Road), Elwyn Park/Woodlands (Dondero School), Gosling Meadows (playground on Wedgewood Road), Wibird (between Lincoln and Hawthorne) and Leslie Drive (332 Leslie Drive).
